Chapter 11

Settings, offline work, and exports

Configure your account, install the PWA, understand offline limits, and produce PDFs.

Preferences

Use Settings → Preferences to manage:

  • language;
  • currency and measurement system;
  • city/region/country/postal context;
  • allergen preferences.

Changing preferences does not rewrite historical supplier data in every Price Book. Review project-specific context separately.

Profile

Update your display details and avatar under Profile. Password recovery sends a secure email through the authentication provider.

Install Heard Chef

When your browser supports installation, Heard Chef shows an install option. You can also use the browser menu and choose Add to home screen. Installation provides an app-like launch experience but does not change account permissions or storage ownership.

Offline behavior

Heard Chef detects connectivity and can queue supported voice captures in the browser. Queued items sync when the connection returns; failed items can be retried or removed.

Do not assume every screen is editable offline. Before closing the browser, check that a critical mutation shows its saved/synchronized state.

Queued voice data belongs to the current browser profile. Clearing browser storage can remove it before sync.

Exports

Heard Chef can produce PDFs for recipes, cookbooks, menus, projects, and shopping lists. Before exporting:

  1. confirm the resource and Price Book context;
  2. resolve missing prices when financial output matters;
  3. check yield, currency, and quantities;
  4. review the generated file before sharing.

Free exports include Heard Chef branding, Pro exports are clean, and eligible Brigade exports can use the team logo.

Privacy when sharing

PDFs can contain operational details. Showcase Cards are intentionally narrower and include only the recipe photo/name, chef or team name, and Heard Chef branding—not costs, margins, ingredients, private links, or technical sheets.
